Softball Senior Night and Postseason Play!

Mira Costa softball celebrated their two graduating seniors before the final regular season game on April 25. #44 Morgan Ingham and #55 Alani Gasca will both be enrolling at El Camino Community College and everyone is looking forward to watching them continue their softball careers there. As per tradition, their mothers joined them on the field to throw out the ceremonial first pitches. The team also honored the graduating Redondo Union seniors and presented them with red and white leis.

After losing a close game to Redondo that evening 5-4, Mira Costa qualified for post-season play for the 3rd consecutive year with a 2nd place finish in the Bay League behind Palos Verdes. The Mustangs are scheduled to play their first CIF Division 3 playoff game this coming Thursday, 5/2 on the road against Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks). Tryout Info

Softball is a Spring Sport.
Softball is a cut sport with Varsity and JV teams.
Softball does not have a formal summer program.
Experience is not required, but most new players have participated in youth leagues.
It is a Spring sport and tryouts are held at the start of the school year.
Incoming freshman should register for 6th Period ‘Excused’ and then 7th Period as Softball if possible, but it’s not imperative. Softball is in lieu of a regular Physical Education period. Once the players have been selected at the start of the year, individual class schedules will be adjusted as needed with their counselors.
Athletes work out with the Softball coaches in the fall and winter using a block Physical Education schedule on Tuesdays and Thursdays if they are not enrolled in other sports.
Starting in January, Varsity typically practices or plays games 5 days a week while the JV typically practices or plays games 3 days a week.
The softball season will begin early February and playoffs will run from June 1-26th.
