Model UN updates!

For the past few weeks, Mira Costa Model UN students have been hard at work. Across all three of the advanced MUN periods, students successfully debated and ratified resolutions for two in-class debates. Some topics focused on direct crises such as the current instability throughout Venezuela, while others centered around more broad discrepancies, like the global impact of free trade. All of the debates were directed toward preparing sophomores for a rigorous style of advanced debate. Sophomores were paired with upperclassmen who guided them through research, speaking, and teamwork skills.

In addition to in-class debates, Mira Costa freshmen and sophomores attended two local debates. Students competed at South Orange County Model UN (SOCOMUN) on September 22nd, and Cerritos Model UN on October 13th. Mira Costa delegations collaborated with various students across the Los Angeles county where they successfully prevailed, earning numerous accolades on behalf of the Mira Costa team. Currently Mira Costa MUN students are preparing for Edison MUN this upcoming weekend on October 20th and 21st, and Bruin MUN on November 3rd and 4th.
