Boys Golf March Updates!

Several members of the Boys Golf Team volunteered at the 3rd Annual Good Swings Happen Junior Golf “Fore” Life day on Saturday. The free event, hosted by the Lakes at El Segundo, was attended by over 200 young golfers from around the greater community. Costa players helped by mentoring young players as they played games and challenges, demoed equipment, tracked their distance on the driving range, and putted for prizes. Skechers Golf sponsored the putting contest and it was the most attended station at the event. Contestants attempted a 15 foot putt down a row of golf shoes earning Skechers shirts and shoes as prizes. “It was a great event,” junior Tim Zimmer said. “It encouraged kids to try golf and if they enjoy it enough they will want to golf again.” Tim followed up a productive day supporting the next generation of youth by competing at The Junior Masters Tournament on Sunday where he won 1st place in the overall event, a well deserved and hard fought victory! Juniors Philip Wandel and Dylan Marschall tied in the Skechers putting challenge both making a 60 foot putt! Philip ultimately won in a playoff and had superstar Costa parent Doug Huggins clad in ’86 Master’s Caddy attire on the bag for the event as the prize. The tournament was also well attended by both Boys and Girls Team Costa golfers.
