Start of the season

The Boys Soccer team is gearing up for pre-season play, with the Varsity squad opening on November 26 in the ANNUAL ALUMNI GAME. They’ll challenge both recent and longtime graduates in what promises to be a fun, spirited, and competitive match.

The team’s first official pre-season matchup follows on December 2 against Torrance High at Mira Costa. Come cheer on our reigning Bay League Champions!

Boys Soccer is a cut sport.
Mira Costa Boys Soccer is looking to add a few more players to complete our rosters!

Tryouts will be held for all interested players (any grade) on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday — August 27–29, 2025 from 3:30 to 4:30 PM on the West Field. Please come prepared with cleats, shin guards, and water.
All incoming freshmen must take summer soccer program run by Head Coaches Al Brown and Gary Smith. The signup is available at the same time as MBX summer school. At the end of the summer program, initial cuts are made. The new freshmen on the team will enroll in 6th period soccer for the fall. Players enrolled in other fall sports can try out for the team in early November. Final cuts are made in November, and the roster for teams formed.
It is recommended that players have AYSO experience, although most players have played club soccer.
Boys Soccer is a winter sport and runs from November through February/March, depending on CIF. There is a tournament(s) during Winter Break and Varsity CIF games usually run through ski week. Players are enrolled in 6th period boys soccer all year and train in the off-season.
