Rugby – Girls

The Mira Costa Girls Rugby program is a non-cut physical sports program that allows female athletes in every grade to compete as well as develop their skills to the next level. The team has rapidly growing Varsity and Junior Varsity programs. In addition to a fun and competitive athletic sport, the program offers tremendous camaraderie and team bonding experiences for the players. WELCOME ALL NEW AND RETURNING PLAYERS
Rugby welcomes all those who are new and returning for the 2025-2026 school year! Both the girls’ and boys’ Rugby teams finished strong last season–capped off by an unforgettable trip to New Zealand for some epic international tournaments. The teams are fired up, the rucks are ready, and we are charging into this season with even more energy. Bring it on!!

Rugby is a winter sport which begins immediately following football season.  The boys’ and girls’ Rugby teams often share practice times and team events, but they play in separate games (the girls’ team plays against area high school girl teams in Rugby 7’s and the boys’ team plays against area high school boy teams in Rugby 15’s). No prior experience is necessary, but it is helpful. Pre-season training begins with the start of the school year before the official winter season starts, and will be on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays starting around 3:30 pm (exact time and location TBD). If you are planning to play Rugby and are not playing a Fall Sport, you must register for 7th Period Rugby PE as a class. If interested or have any questions about the Rugby program, please contact Coach Duke Dulgarian at or 310-962-1385.
