GIRLS LAX RANKED #1

Picking up right where they left off last season, the #1 ranked Division 3 Mira Costa Girls Varsity Lacrosse Team continues to press their case to be counted as one of the Southland’s elite teams. Led by freshman, Kate Donnelly and her team leading 33 goals, sophomore Sophia Delano (18 goals) and a trifecta of super seniors – Sydney Thatch (20), Chloe Shingles (17) and Olivia Lorenzen (16) – the Lady Mustangs shot out to an 8-0 record, including wins against four straight Division 1 teams, before experiencing two tough losses to traditional powerhouses Redondo Union and Palos Verdes High School. The 12-4 Mustangs maintained a #1 ranking for an impressive seven straight weeks – during which time they swept their division at the Rose Bowl Invitational Tournament by outscoring their opponents 32-5 – before ceding the top spot to Marlborough High School. Mira Costa took back their #1 ranking by defeating Marlborough 9-7 in a fiercely contested home match-up. Currently ranked #20 state-wide, Mira Costa finishes out the season with Bay League opponent, Peninsula, and final games against rivals Palos Verdes and Redondo Union. Come cheer on our Varsity girls as they fight to end the season with a top seed heading into the play-offs.

More than matching the success of their Varsity teammates, the Mira Costa Junior Varsity Team is currently 8-1 including a sweep of their own division at the Rose Bowl Tournament. Led by high scorer Coco Johnson and draw specialist Kate Sepaher, the performance of the JV squad points to more success in the years to come for Mira Costa Girls Lacrosse.
