Girls Golf finishes season with standout accomplishments!

The 2018 Bay League Champion Girls Golf team ended their season with many accomplishments. Mira Costa Girls were well represented in post season honors. Klara Nagy (Sr.), Shani Waite (Jr.), and Gabrielle Kiger (Jr.) earned 1st Team All League while, Juliae Shoda (Soph) and Isabella Walker (Jr). earned 2nd Team All League. At the end of the year banquet, Klara Nagy (Sr.) received the Varsity Player of the Year award and Kate Stargardter (Soph.) received the Junior Varsity Player of the Year for an outstanding season. Hannah Gedion (Fr.) also received the 2018 Rookie of the Year award. Francesca Bennett (Jr.)and Sara Matsuoka(Soph.) both received the Mustang Team Award. Malia Reif (Soph) and Adi Stein(Soph)both received the Costa Prospects Award.

Tryout Info

Girls’ golf is a Fall sport, and tryouts for new players begin in late August.

Girls Golf is now available year around. The competitive season is only during the first semester, however, girls may opt to continue in the Golf PE class in the second semester as well. Girls who play other sports the first semester may still apply to join the golf class only for the second semester.
Please contact us right after 8th grade promotion to be notified of activities over summer and desire to be on the team in the fall. Selections for the Varsity or JV teams are dependent upon skill level.

Exact play opportunities and team assignments (Varsity and JV) may not be determined until after the first few weeks of school, but preliminary input is provided to all new players relatively quickly after joining the team.
Players must have taken lessons and be able to at minimum play 9 holes on a par 3 course and maintain proper pace of play.

Off-season Workouts:
Players are primarily asked to play and practice on their own during the off season. The team may organize a few special events as well. Coach Cox usually offers a summer golf class at Chester Washington which is a good lead in for new players or for those looking for camaraderie and more structure over summer.
