It was a great day to RUN!

The Mira Costa Girls and Boys Cross Country Teams ran their first meet of the season against Palos Verdes Peninsula High School at Costa on Saturday, Feb 20, 2021. Thank you to the coaches, administration, MCXC Booster Club and parent volunteers who helped make this event successful and fun for the students. We wish the team speed and good luck at their next race on Saturday, Feb 27 against Redondo, at Redondo.

Tryout Info

Cross Country is a Fall Sport.
MCXC Tryouts will be held August 4, 2023 at 8am at Mira Costa High School before school begins. This will be a timed 3 mile course with qualifying times for boys and girls
No prior experience is necessary, however it is strongly recommended that athletes participate in the summer training program. Athletes run Mon. – Fri. in the early morning prior to academic summer school. PE credit is not given for Cross Country Summer Athletics. Athletes not participating in summer school training must have other distance training in the early summer to avoid injury. Mandatory training continues through August, in the morning, shifting to afternoon just prior to school start.
Meets begin in late August through early November. CIF prelims and finals are in mid-November (select athletes only). View the 2023 Season Calendar.
Most distance athletes transfer to Track and Field in the spring. All runners continue training Mon.-Fri. after the fall season until the end of the semester unless transferring to a winter sport.
