Executive Director, MBX Foundation – Application Information

The MBX Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing academic, athletic,
visual and performing arts, and co-curricular opportunities for students in the Manhattan
Beach Unified School District (MBUSD). Through strategic fundraising, partnerships, and
program management, MBX supports over 50 school booster clubs, operates accredited
summer and after-school programs, and has helped fund transformative capital projects and
campus upgrades.
We are seeking a visionary Executive Director to lead the next chapter of MBX’s impact. The
Executive Director will be responsible for advancing our mission through strong leadership,
strategic development, program oversight, fundraising, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy
– Provide overall direction for MBX’s mission, programs, and growth.
– Work closely with the MBX Board to align strategy, governance, and execution.
– Research and pursue new revenue and partnership opportunities.
Financial Oversight
– Manage financial planning and resource allocation, ensuring fiscal responsibility,
transparency, and accountability
– Oversee budgeting, audits, and compliance in partnership with the Controller.
Program Development & Management
– Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of all MBX programs, including Summer
School, after-school enrichment, and booster club support.
– Monitor program effectiveness and student impact, using data to inform enhancements
and drive continuous improvement.
Staff & Operations
– Recruit, train, and supervise a small but dedicated team of staff and volunteers.
– Conduct annual staff reviews and oversee day-to-day operations.
– Manage leases and vendor relationships for use of MBUSD facilities.
Community Engagement & Communications
– Serve as the public face of MBX at school and community events.
– Build relationships with MBUSD, local organizations, and families.
– Lead marketing, PR, and digital outreach to elevate MBX’s visibility and impact.
Qualifications:
– Proven leadership experience in nonprofit or education-focused organizations.
– Successful track record in fundraising, partnership development, and program
management.
– Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
– Familiarity with school systems and community foundations is preferred.
– Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree a plus.
Compensation & Work Environment:
– Salary: $100,000 annually
– Benefits: Paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays
– Work Schedule: 40 hours/week
