La Vista has been the student-run newspaper of Mira Costa High School since the school’s creation in 1950. Students in the journalism program are encouraged to take the Journalism 1-2 class to learn the basics of writing news, opinion, arts, life and sports stories, as well as how to use the Adobe Creative Suite.
The newspaper is published 10 times during the year (approximately every three weeks), and each edition varies in length from 16 to 28 pages. It is distributed to the entire student body of Mira Costa, along with several hundred paid subscribers. La Vista pays for itself through parent donations, advertisements and subscriptions.
