Spring and Summer Programs plus Youth Camp

Spring Program:

The spring season is underway, and the Varsity Team is preparing to play in the prestigious California Live (Orange County) and Section 7 (Arizona) College Showcase events! Next week we are hosting a program-wide outing to Dodger Stadium!

Summer Program:

Youth Camps:

Thank you to the local youth players who participated in a fun-filled, 1-day Future Mustangs Basketball Camp! The kids developed fundamental skills while working with the Mira Costa Basketball coaches and players. Our next youth camp is scheduled for July 10-12, from 10:30 am-1:30 pm each day—details to follow.

Tryout Info

Boys Basketball is a Winter Sport.
Boys Basketball is a cut sport. There are 3 tryout periods. They are: In the fall during the first two-three weeks of school, after fall sports end in mid-November, and at the end of spring. Players know right away if they have made team.
Prior experience helps but is not mandatory.
The season is November-mid February. Varsity can play through all of February and potentially into the start of March. Basketball can be up to an 11-month sport. If students make the team they will be expected to be available during Thanksgiving week, Winter Break. Varsity players are in playoffs the week of the February break.
There is training and practice in the fall and spring as a “6th period” class.
There is a summer MBX program from late June through the end of July. All incoming 9th graders are welcome. 10-12 graders are invited if they are expected to be on team following year. It is not mandatory but most players participate. We follow rules of MBX regarding how many days missed can still get you credit for class (3 days). The class is offered for PE credit. Frosh players who participate coming into 9th grade will be invited to games during the week and on weekend. These are not mandatory but all will be included in some summer games
