Costa vs. Palos Verdes Swim Meet highlights!

Last Thursday, the Mustangs had their first duel meet of the 2019 season against one of their biggest rivals, Peninsula High School. Costa had nearly a full sweep, winning boys frosh-soph (115-39 points), girls frosh-soph (95.5-58.5 points), and girls Varsity (87-83 points). The score was very close for the boys Varsity with the final point total at 88-82 for Peninsula. In the words of Varsity captain, Colin Le, Varsity boys showed an “A+ effort.”

At the meet there was one new school record, two CIF automatic cuts, and several CIF consideration cuts. The lastest school record was set by Senior, Kai Bathurst in the 200 IM (1:55.65). The two automatic swims were made by Senior, Alex Crisera in her 200 Freestyle (1:53.43) and her 200 IM (2:07.36). All very impressive in-season times.

– Boys Varsity 50 Freestyle: Colin Le (21.94), 1st Place

– Boys Varsity 100 Freestyle: Kai Bathurst (48.00), 1st Place

-Boys Varsity 500 Freestyle: Sean Keegan (4:52.25), 2nd Place

– Girls 200 Freestyle relay: Riley Farrel, Leigh Lyter, Kate Kramer, Grace Barnhill

(1:46.24), 1st Place

-Boys Varsity 200 Freestyle relay: Sean Keegan, Colin Le, Sawyer Coye, Camden Strickfaden (1:30.27), 1st Place

– Boys Varsity 100 Backstroke: Colin Le (54.23), 1st Place and Yack Yakubik (57.18), 3rd Place

-Boys Varsity 400 Freestyle relay: Sean Keegan, Zack Yakubik, Roger Brown, Kai Bathurst
(3:21.78), 1st Place

Up next is our meet against Palos Verdes High School, the week that we get back from spring break, on Thursday, April 11. This meet is an away meet and swimmers will be released at 12:40 pm for a 1:00 pm departure. Go Mustangs!
