Softball celebrates Bay League Championship at banquet!

The Mustang softball team celebrated their second consecutive Bay League Championship season on May 31st with an end of season banquet at Lido restaurant in Manhattan Beach. The coaches presented individual awards to both Junior Varsity and Varsity players. For the Junior Varsity team, Sam Papagno received the Gold Glove award for her defensive performance, Ruby Knizewski received the Coaches award and Grace Householter was named the Junior Varsity overall team MVP. For the Varsity team, Piper Neri was named the Clutch Offensive Player of the Year, Mari Ledezma received the award for Defensive Player of the Year, Katie Katsuyama received that award for Rookie of the Year and Serena Ponciano was named the Varsity team MVP. Many of the players also received Scholar Athlete recognition for maintaining a 3.3 or higher GPA during the season. Mira Costa is also very proud to have four team members named as 1st Team All Bay League selections – Katie Gould, Grace Herron, Katie Katsuyama and Mari Ledezma, as well as three team members named as 2nd Team All Bay League selections – Emma Fong, Piper Neri and Jenna Ortega. Serena Ponciano was named the overall Bay League MVP. Bay League honorees are voted on by the softball coaches at all of the Bay League schools.
